Lasagna day!!!

Today I will be sharing how I make a quick and easy lasagna on my youtube channel. This lasagna is so good you won't believe how easy it is to put it all together. I made this lasagna for our wedding and it was completely gone while a lot of the catered food remained! I am so excited to share how I make this with all of you and my friends and family (and hopefully I won't have to make it for them and they can make their own!)

For this recipe you will need.....

1lb ground beef
1lb sausage (I use the Jimmy Dean Italian Style)
garlic powder
italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
2 jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce
large container of cottage cheese (large or small curd you decide)
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
lasagna noodles (I prefer the ones that you boil not the ready to bake but you do you)

It's pretty simple... Brown the hamburger and sausage in a skillet. I season my meat while it is cooking with the garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Once you have the meat browned you can either drain it or leave it as it is. You want to add the spaghetti sauce right to the meat. Now at this point you have some decisions to make... How much time do you have? If you have the time let the sauce simmer with the meat to really meld all the flavors together. If you don't have to time don't worry it will still be great!!!

Prep work for the building of the lasagna.....

Get your lasagna pan (13x9in is what I use)
Boil your lasagna noodles (for quick lasagna start the noodles boiling before you start browning your meat)
In a large bowl combine the shredded mozzarella and cottage cheese (save about a cup to a cup and a half of the shredded mozzarella)

You will start layering the lasagna in a 13in x 9in baking dish/pan whatever you want to call it.... Start with the sauce... just a thin layer don't get carried away.... this first sauce layer is just to make it easier to get out of the pan. Then a layer of noodles... (we will talk about your noodles in a minute). Next add another layer of your sauce. Add a layer of the cheese mixture. (don't be afraid to get your hands right in there and get that cheese mixture evenly spread!). Follow this by noodles, sauce, chesse, noodles, sauce cheese. The last step should be adding the shredded mozzarella you saved to the top.
you want to bake this for about 30-40 minutes until the cheese on top is melted and starting to get golden brown. Let this cool for about 10-15minutes and serve!!!

Okay about the noodles.... If you are wanting this lasagna done quickly then start boiling the noodles before you start to brown the meat. But if you have time and you want to let the meat and sauce simmer together for a while then start your noodles after the sauce and meat is combined. If you want to use the ready to bake noodles then go for it! I personally have never used them but I am sure that it would make this recipe even quicker!!!

I hope you enjoy this recipe and I will be adding the link to the video once it is made edited and uploaded!!!

Today is the day!!!

Hello everyone, Well today is the day! Today all of the stuff I ordered to be able to film YouTube videos will be arriving! My plan for my first YouTube video is going to be a tour of my sewing space! It sounds fancy but really it is just one of our spare bedrooms that I have all of my sewing stuff set up in. Now I warn you all that the hubby had deemed this also the room where all the crap that we don't know what to do with ends up! It's not one of those prim and perfect pristine rooms with elaborate sewing furniture and machines but it is mine and my space and I love it! So stay tuned for the beginning of what I hope is something amazing!!!

Starting my YouTube Channel!!!!

Well everyone it's official.... I have decided to start a YouTube channel! I am very very excited and very very nervous! I am just going to be starting out filming on my iPhone for now and I have ordered a tripod and an external lapel mic to improve the sound quality of my videos. I will be using iMovie to edit all of my videos. I already have a series that I want to call the "Stitch and Bitch Hour" where I work on one of my projects and just talk about whatever is on my mine or has me in a fluster. I want my YouTube channel to be fun and different.... Not your grandma's crafting tutorials. I want to share quilting, crochet, sewing, and cooking with all of my followers!!! Anyway my tripod and all of my other stuff I ordered should be here on Thursday so I have deemed that as my the day I shoot my first video related to the content that I hope to create!!! I know it has been a while since I have posted but I plan on getting back on track!!! I am so sorry that I have been away from you all for so long but I am also working full time (48+ hours/week) and am in nursing school for my RN. (Thank you 6lb 8oz baby Jesus for the summer break! I thought I was going to lose my mind if I didn't get some sort of break. Well I think that is about all that I have to say right now... Just bear with me and we are going to start making wonderful things together!!!

Be sure to come and check out my YouTube channel.

Post Christmas Present Progress......

Well I was off from work last night... Watched and sewed along with Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville. I managed to almost get the other two of the OSU churn dash quilt tops put together and then disaster struck. I realized that I didn't measure my inner border pieces correctly. I picked and I flicked, cried a little and swore a little and before I knew it daylight was shining through the windows. It was time for bed. Hoping to get a few more hours of sewing in this morning after I get off from work. Not making any promises.... my bed might be very loudly calling my name once I walk through those front doors. Hope everyone has a great day.... and sewing like no one is watching.

married,moved,and sewing once again!

Sew,,, it's been a while. Where do I start! Well I got married and moved into our wonderful home that we ought together. Victor, that's the husband, has been so great and wonderful when it comes to my quilting. I have my own room just for quilting and he has told me that he doesn't care what I spend or buy to support my hobby! Ha ha ha I said to that. Apparently he just doesn't understand how much quilting stuff costs. He soon found out when he bought me this really awesome foldable table from bee sew inn for Christmas. I haven't been sewing a lot but let's just say that it has started to pick back up. I am going to include a couple of pictures of stuff that I have been working on and some pictures of my sewing oasis. Hope this post finds you all well and I hope to get back into the groove of blogging and posting a bit more often!

TWO NEW MACHINES AND NOT A PLACE TO PUT EM.... house closing set backs and all that jazz!!!!

Well where to start... I know it has been a while since I last posted.... I apologize but sometimes life gets in the way. I have been working a lot of extra shifts and been dealing with trying to get closed on this house. If any of you are underwriters or know an underwriter for home loans/mortgages I am sorry. They have to be the weirdest people in the world!!! Some of the stuff that they have asked for is just crazy! Like they wanted a letter from my employer stating that my move to the new house wouldn't affect my employment. My employer looked at me like I was absolutely crazy when I asked then for this!!! She didn't even know what to write! She said that she wanted to put something really, well shall I say not so nice in the letter but thought better of it! So all of the forms and letters and this that and the other have been submitted and the underwriting part is done. Here in Oklahoma however we still have abstracts for our properties. A very antiquated system, but still a requirement for property purchases. The abstract is basically the history of the property since before Oklahoma was even a state(1907). Needless to say the abstract didn't make it to the title company until today and that is certainly not enough time for us to be able to close by Thursday! So closing has been pushed back to Monday or Tuesday!

On the upside I found a White treadle sewing machine for $75!!! All it needed was a good cleaning and a new belt and a little oil here and there and she moves like she did the day she was new! I named her Betty.... get it Betty White!!! I crack myself up sometimes. My realtor just recently sold a property and the previous owners left a vintage sewing machine! She asked me if I wanted it and of course I said yes... I haven't had a chance to play with it yet but soon that day will come. It is in a sewing cabinet and looks to be in good condition but we will see. So there we are I now am the owner of 4 sewing machines with no place to put them quite yet... Does anyone know what that is like to have 4 sewing machines that you can't play with right now because of this transition period!!! I am going a little crazy!!! I hope this finds everyone well and everyone's projects are going great!!! Thank you to whoever you are reading this blog!!! I encourage you all to go over to Bonnie Hunter's blog which is quiltville.blogspot.com. She was my inspiration to start this blog and has a ton of great videos and tips on her blog!!! Bonnie if ever you read this blog thank you so much for all that you do and making quilting entertaining and fun!!!

Having major withdraws!!!

Okay so with the majority of my quilting room packed... I have found myself having some major withdraws. It really doesn't help that as soon as I get home from my night shift and immediately get on youtube and watch Bonnie Hunter for hours!!! I am actually loosing sleep at this point and not being productive at all... I wanna get moved and get set up and get to work on something.... If anyone is reading this tell me what you are working on... maybe even add some pictures so I can live vicariously through you while my sewing studio is packed for the move!!!
